What actually is yoga for athletes?

Peak Fitness and Motion offers Range & Resilience: Yoga for Athletes. This is a custom class format designed to support those who train hard, play hard, and live active and very full lives. It’s not a traditional yoga flow class, it’s not a cardio workout disguised as yoga, and it isn’t a yin or restorative class that’s just stretchy and sleepy. You won’t typically leave class sweaty, and the goal isn’t to see how many poses we can fit into an hour. But you will strike an intelligent balance between dynamic movement, science-based stretching, active range mobility work, soft tissue hydration, and nervous system management.

We focus on how well your body moves, how well it recovers, and how well it adapts.

We spend our time moving through different positions and planes of motion, and ensuring that your joints and tissues do the things they may not get much opportunity to do during the rest of your week. We work on maintaining a usable range of motion, strength and control at the end ranges of your joints, balance, coordination and movement quality. And we ensure that we cover the bases that are oftentimes missed inside of your strength and conditioning work get adequately addressed.

Yoga Range and Resilience is back but a little different this time.

This season, we’ll also be integrating a more intentional approach to how we format classes, so that they cohesively fit alongside your training at the gym. In typical Peak Motion & Fitness form, you’ll not only do the work, but you’ll develop a better understanding of the ‘why’ behind the work, so that you’re better empowered to create your knowledge base to better tend to your health and fitness as a whole.

Within our mountain town culture, most of us have more than enough ways to stay active. We ski, bike, run, climb, hike, lift, paddle, hunt, fish and generally find ways to fill our calendars year round. Add work, family and everything else, and it’s very easy to spend a lot of time in a high-output state.

Range & Resilience focuses on filling in the gaps in your training, sport, and recreation focused lifestyle, so that you can stay connected to the pursuits that are so central to your life.

Our goal isn’t to become better at yoga poses just because, but to build a body that can keep moving well, handle stress, recover from training and continue doing the things you enjoy.

Join us this season, broaden your toolkit, and build better movement in the gym, outdoors, and at home.

And stay tuned for weekly tips from me, Coach Lindsay, your Range & Resilience trainer and educator.
