With so much information out there on how to “optimize” your health, here are three things you can focus on that actually work to help your physical and mental well-being. One size does not fit all, but doing yourself the favor of prioritizing these three things to the best of your capabilities will ensure lifelong success! Instead of going through these extreme cycles of exercise or dieting, and then throwing it all to the wind… let’s try this:

  1. Regular meal patterns: eating regularly (yes, that means not skipping meals!) with enough Calories, fiber, and protein, will help give your brain and body the fuel to concentrate, regulate your mood, work out, and prevent cravings! A lot of times, we are irritable, bloated, and unmotivated because we are not eating regularly.

  2. Regular movement pattern: You don’t need the hottest new fitness trends or 12,000 steps a day to improve health. Finding ways to consistently and enjoyably move–walking 4,000-8,000 steps on average, lifting weights 2-3x per week, dancing or swimming–and doing so all year long, for many years to come, is a lot more beneficial than going from a 30-day challenge to nothing at all.

  3. Regular sleeping patterns: I know it’s boring, but it works! Chronic sleep deprivation is not to be understated as one of the worst things for our health. Having a regular sleep: wake time (as much as possible!) and prioritizing quality 7-9 hours will ensure your decision making and concentration, muscle-building and recovery, and mood regulation are in tip-top shape! Your brain and body do their best work when well-rested.

As you finish 2025 strong, and look ahead to your 2026 goals… let’s prioritize real health instead of fast fitness fads and crash diets!
